Exterior Security Lighting

Written by Owen Jones on Wednesday, March 31st, 2010 in Uncategorized.

It is quite natural that we all want to keep our homes and businesses safe and well looked after, but there are many ways in which this can be accomplished. The cheapest and most cost effective way is exterior security lighting

It truly is a no brainer, bad lighting can make a home or business a much more appealing object than the house next door because it has less satisfactory exterior security lighting. Prowlers look for dimly lit points of entry into premises that seem to contain riches, so when you are designing the security system for your home or business you should try to think like a thief.

Look at your buildings from the outside, or look at someone else’s first and ask yourself, how you would get in there if you had to. Pretend that you forgot your keys or that there is a serious problem in your property. How would you get in? This is where chummy gets in and you must find out how to obstruct his every move.

Ten years ago, I lived in a bungalow alone with my small, knee-high dog and armed robbers attacked me in my home, in spite of the fact that I had a reasonable home security system. Do not let it happen to you. My blunder was that I had inadequate exterior security lighting.

They had cut my phone line during the day and because I used a cell phone for most of my calls, I did not realize. Also my dog was sick, but I did not realize that she had been poisoned too. At eleven o’clock at night there was a knock on the front door and I opened it, thinking that it was a neighbour in distress.

A man charged in and over-powered me and the rest was not nice. However, the whole regrettable issue could have been avoided, if I had thought like them..

I was in the routine of pulling the curtains when I got home, so I did not notice that they had taken the bulbs from my exterior security lighting as well.

My advice is to test your exterior security lighting every night when you arrive home and keep the bushes or shrubs cut low around your front and back doors. Make sure that your exterior security lighting is working every evening and make sure that you can see who is ringing your door bell.

Supply your garden and your doors with lots of light. Let them be on motion sensors and check who is at your door from a side window that looks out onto your front door. I had a beautiful frosted glass pane in my front door, but that is no good. I could not identify anyone through it.

Get a panic button fitted by your doors, a big one, so that if you are surprised you can lash out and still hit it and above all make your next door neighbours aware that if your external siren sounds, that you are in danger and that you need assistance immediately. If you are not in trouble, you can always say sorry later.

Home Schooling Learning History

Written by Marion Jones on Wednesday, March 31st, 2010 in Uncategorized.

Do you think that passing time in traditional classrooms is not worth it? For many people, that is true. For example, an exam is coming up and the students are told to memorize a lot of dates and names. However, after taking the test, they will probably forget 90% of those dates and names. That’s what most students do every time they have tests. If you are one of these people, you will find traditional history lessons boring, so home schooling, which focuses more on the history of the world will probably catch your fancy.

Simple memorization by rote is just not enough to know the importance of historically famous people and fateful events. However, through home schooling in history, you can learn about the different cultures of the past in a different, but interesting way - that is your own way! By the study of history, you will also realize what is happening in the world today.

But, if you consider that home schooling is the best option for your child’s learning, you must also be prepared to undertake certain responsibilities. As there will be no teacher physically present, you will have to oversee your child’s educational progress by yourself.

Let’s just suppose that your kid is interested in a particular sport. Through combining history and home schooling, you can start by simply putting a map on the wall of your child’s bedroom and mark the location of his favourite sports team. Make sure that you track all the team’s activities and schedules. Then, you could go back to history lessons by reading biographies of the different athletes, who had been famous in the particular sport that your child follows. Aside from that, you can also study the history of that particular sport and discover where it originated, its inventor, and the other things happening in that particular time in history.

For example, if your child loves baseball, you can teach your child about the history of Negro Leagues, government hearings on the use of steroids, and other favourite sports at that time. But remember that you can apply this concept to any interest like dances and inventions. You can also have conversations with your child concerning current affairs or read interesting historical works and other books. Aside from that, you could also watch documentaries together with the rest of the family. There are various resources that you can use while home schooling, like TV, maps, books, a globe, an atlas, and encyclopedias. Due of the exciting adventures that you and your child will read about and see on film, your child will find it easier to remember the names and dates of the history lessons. After all, education is better when it is done in an interesting way.

These methods are advisable if the child is still young, however once your child gets older, you should select a home schooling program that is suitable for his/her age group. The programs are available at the elementary, high school, and even college levels. You just have to search online for these different programs. One advantage of these programs is that you can adapt them to suit the needs of your child. However, you must see to it that all the lessons are studied by your child.

After you and your child have decided to give home schooling a go, you will have to be ready to make some changes in your lifestyle. The learning will now take place in your home not at a remote school and through the various resources that you want to use, which should include a computer and the Internet.

How Do You Take A Psychic Abilities Quiz?

Written by Jessie Peterson on Wednesday, March 31st, 2010 in Uncategorized.

There are two types of psychic abilities quiz. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, but which one is right for you? Read on to find out.

The classic esp test uses a bicycle-brand esp card-deck that has five symbols - circle, square, triangle , plus sign and wave. The examiner holds up one card at a time and you have to guess each in turn. This test has been around for decades and was even featured in the first Ghostbusters movie (where Bill Murray tests an unwitting subject).

The main problem with this test is that it mainly relies on clairvoyance to get a correct answer. Clairvoyance, or “clear seeing” is a classic psychic skill, used by many psychic readers to predict your future. But it is only one of the various types of esp (or extra-sensory perception). The other two main types are clairaudience and clairsentience. Clairaudience (or “clear hearing”) is the ability to receive subtle messages by hearing, while clairsentience (or “clear feeling”) is the ability to connect to others with your feelings.

The second type of test relies on identifying certain personal traits and experiences that might predict the presence of psychic ability. The main disadvantage of this type of test is that some people claim that it is not scientific. And I guess that’s true - it doesn’t give you a definite score or a yes / no answer. But as I see it, psychic abilities are neither black and white, nor can they be adequately assessed by scientific means. So this type of test is a qualitative (as opposed to quantitative) type in scientific jargon. Or in other words, this type of psychic abilities quiz is a right-brained test.

So it might ask questions like the following: 1. Do you often see movement out of the corner of your eye but when you turn your head there is nothing there? 2. Do you often know which song will be playing on the radio before you turn it on? 3. Do you feel bad inside after watching the TV news? 4. Have you ever felt that you influenced the outcome of a dice roll or board game with your mind? 5. Do you often experience feelings, sounds or images when you walk into a new building? These are the first five questions from the author’s new psychic quiz site (see below). Hopefully you can see how they might identify a much broader range of psychic ability compared to just flash cards. What are your answers to these five questions?

Important Points 1. Psychic ability tests can help you understand your psychic abilities. 2. Many can be done over the internet. 3. There are two major types. 4. The classic type uses symbolic cards that the test subject tries to predict. 5. The other (better) type uses a questionnaire-style format to identify personality traits and personal experiences that might predict the presence and type of psychic gift.
